Decorations are individual customizations that can be applied to products – for example, logos, lettering, or designs via print or embroidery. In this article, you will learn how to create decoration options and assign them to your products.

What is a Decoration?

A decoration describes a specific type of product customization:

• Screen Printing - For large quantities with few colors
• Digital Printing (DTG) - For photorealistic designs in small runs
• Embroidery - High-quality, durable decoration
• Transfer Printing - Versatile for various materials
• Flex Printing - For single-color logos and lettering

Create a Decoration

To create a new decoration:

Basic Data

1. Name - Name of the decoration (e.g., "Screen Print 1-color"), maintainable in multiple languages
2. Reference - Internal reference number
3. Description - Explanation for customers of what this decoration includes (multi-language)
4. Decoration Type - Classification of the decoration method

Define Placements

Each decoration can be applied to different areas on the product. Define the available placements:

• Left Chest - Small logo on the left chest
• Right Chest - Small logo on the right chest
• Back - Large-area print on the back
• Left / Right Sleeve - Logo on the sleeve
• Collar - Decoration in the neck area

For each placement, you can define the maximum size (X and Y in mm or cm).

Tier Pricing

The price of a decoration typically depends on the quantity ordered. The more pieces ordered, the cheaper the unit price:

Create as many price tiers as you need. The shop automatically calculates the lowest unit price based on the ordered quantity.

Upload Print Files

Upload print templates or design files required for production:

• Vector Graphics (SVG, AI, EPS) - Preferred for sharp results
• Raster Graphics (PNG, JPG) - For photorealistic designs
• Preview Images - Are displayed to the customer in the shop as a preview

Assign Decoration to a Product

After you have created a decoration, you must assign it to the appropriate products:

1. Open the desired product
2. Navigate to the Decorations section
3. Add the desired decoration option
4. Select the available placements
5. Save the changes

A product can have multiple decoration options, allowing customers to choose between different types of decoration.

Decoration in the Shop (Customer View)

When a customer views a product with decoration options, they see:

1. Choose Decoration Type - Dropdown or selection of available options
2. Choose Placement - Where on the product the decoration should be applied
3. Upload Design - The customer can upload their own logo or design
4. Price Preview - The costs are displayed based on quantity and tier pricing

Embroidery Analysis

For embroidery decorations, softwear.prints offers an automatic analysis:

• The uploaded design is checked for embroiderability
• Color Analysis - Detection of used colors
• Stitch Count Estimation - Calculation of the estimated number of stitches
• Preview - Photorealistic preview of the embroidered result

This analysis helps with price calculation and gives the customer a realistic idea of the result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a product have multiple decorations simultaneously? Yes, a customer can, for example, choose a logo on the chest and lettering on the back - provided both placements are configured.

How are decoration costs calculated? The costs are calculated per placement and added to the product price. For tier pricing, the lowest tier applies based on the total quantity of the order.

Can the customer order without their own design? Yes, if you provide standard motifs or designs, the customer can choose from these instead of uploading their own.
